whoa! i went to the singapore culinary academy and spice gardens at fort canning park along with the sec 5 fnn students today! well, let me tell you wad happened. ok since i havent handed in the edusave form for the outing, i was in a dilemma whether or not to go. so i gave mdm ashikin a call to ask if i could go in the first place. she told me i could over the phone and so i waited where we were all supposed to meet. i was starving as i haven't eaten the entire day since i skipped recess to watch a movie in class. as i was walking towards the canteen to grab a bite or something, mdm ashikin was walking towards me and of course my other friends. we told her that we havent eaten and needed to get something to at least fill our tummies or ease the hunger. she said ok. as i was walking back to the meeting venue from the canteen, junhong told me he decided to go as he initially didnt want to. so he asked me to follow him back to the canteen to get a sandwich. so, i followed. when we got back to the meeting venue, mdm ashikin started putting me down. she said i took things too easy and i always lied. i didnt say anything and just went ahead to board the bus. before i got up the bus, she said she wasnt quite sure if i could go hinting to me somehow that i shouldnt. i didnt give a damn really and just boarded the bus. i seriously think there's something wrong apart from the fact that she pregnant and have mood swings.

so, mdm ashikin and i didnt talk for the entire bus ride there. couldnt quite be bothered though. i was eating away and i didnt care wad she thought knowing i wasnt supposed to eat in the damn bus. hmm.. i was eating and eating when i realised that junhong who was sitting next to me was sleeping! so here! thats the way pigs nap..
so well, after a journey of about forty minutes, we made it. ok, so we got off the bus and i started taking photos again. i took a photo of the park's map and the big sign that stood before us before we walked into the academy's building. then mdm ashikin and i started talking, i don quite remember how it started but well it just did. so we were on talking terms again.
after all the turnings and climbing flights of stairs, we finally came to the work room!! it was gorgeous! i took a picture of it too! haha. oh and our first instructor of the day was nicknamed chef A. he's from thailand and he's really good at doing food carving. he thought us how to make a heart shaped flower out of a red chilli, rose from tomato skin and leaves from green apples after having introduced us to the appropriate knives and having told us the story behind food carving! had a fun time doing it though. didn't seem too tough for me, but well the rest were all complaining. i thought the hardest was making leaves out of the green apples! i still succeeded. junhong wasnt too clever with knives and accidentally cut himself in the midst of carving. he was cursing and swearing. boy! was he annoying. hahaha! jkjk.

my masterpiece! whhoooo
so the carving part's done! then we were introduced to our next instructor who was from france and has travelled the globe for his recognised talent in the food industry, fredrick. he's a pastry chef. i didnt quite understand what he was saying because of his very strong french accent. anyway, he thought us how to make french apple tart, which looks more like a pie! LOL. we had to slice apples and made sure they were 1mm thin! he sliced three apples with ease and took less than 2 minutes to get it all sliced and prepared. then he showed us how to make the pastry. its meant to be rough so we used to rubbing in method. had great fun doing it. huishan, junhong, alicia and myself seriously had fun.

whoo. after our pies were collected for baking, we had about ten minutes of free time. so here are afew pictures we took! its ok to be narcisscistic! haha. and yepp there were afew things we did in the name of fun and out of boredom as well. for example, the ''ma la ping guo tang''. which means some kinda soup. it definitely is not consumable and its freakin' disgusting. LOL.

soon, we settled in for the final dish! roasted chicken served with basil oil mashed potatoes! whooo! each group was given a whole chicken and lots of herbs. i was rather used to meddling with raw stuff so i shuffed my hand into the chicken's body to take out the lungs/ liver. then we marinated it with all the minced ingredients we were given. labelled it, and left it to roast.

while waiting for the food to be ready, we had this sensory evaluation food tasting kinda thing. was really ccol. what really left an impact on me has got to be the fish sauce. it was very fishy. haha! it had this pungent odour as well! hmm after the activity, we had to clean up the work room. the food were ready for collection by the time we were done cleaning up. we had to collect our food group by group and couldnt start eating until everybody's gotten their share. it was really tempting! but i resisted. yayy! we had a wonderful dinner accompanied by the cool breeze and the trees. the whole experience was really fun yet educational! enjoyed it.

after dinner we thanked the staff and headed back to our bus. inside, i turned on the song ''nothing in this world'' by paris hilton. then mdm ashikin started making noise and talk about me lying. i purposely blast the music before switchin' it off. she told me i took things too easy. i knew she could understand elementary chinese. so i indirectly spoke in mix of english and mandarin saying that its not that i am taking things too easy, its just that shes being over sensitive and taking things too hard. i also said she was full of ''pattern'' ever since she got pregnant. then she shut up. we both didnt talk even after reaching school. it was already 7.50pm. so i went home.
